This American University Professor has sparked debate on and off campus after bringing her baby to work and breast-feeding in front of her class of 40.
Adrienne Pine, an anthropology professor at American University in Washington D.C., says she brought her sick baby daughter to class two weeks ago because she didn’t want to cancel the first lecture of “Sex, Gender, and Culture.”
During the 75 minute class, the baby “crawled on the floor of the lecture hall…the mother extracted a paper clip from the girl’s mouth…and shooed her away from an electrical outlet….when the baby grew restless, Pine breast-fed her,” The Washington Post reported.
After accusing the school newspaper and female reporter of having an anti-woman bias, she also asked “Do university students really need to be so mollycoddled that they should not see something I do on public transportation nearly every day?”
Let’s see what we can agree on in this discord. Mainly, this was a great first day. The only way that this could have been a better first day of “Sex, Gender and Culture” class is if she was a transgender Lesbian survivor missing a breast from surgery. This teaches the class first hand how American culture approaches sex and gender and that can all be summed up in a simple phrase: “You are either the superior, or you have a vagina.” That is textbook material people!
I just wish people were more alarmed at the terrible penmanship and presentation of the students. You believe so much in a cause that you protest, but not enough to make your protest visually appealing.
